houten golf teesEen golf Tee is gemaakt van hout.  Een golf Tee is een heel dun stukje hout dat je in de grond steekt op de afslagplaats.

Op je golf Tee leg je de golfbal.  Op deze manier komt de bal hoger van de grond, zodat je hem makkelijker kunt raken.

Het tweede voordeel is dat je minder weerstand hebt en daardoor de golfbal voller kan raken. Door het betere balcontact kun je meer spin aan de bal meegeven.

De afslagplaats is in principe de enige plaats waar je gebruik mag maken van een golf Tee. Op de fairway speel je de bal zoals hij ligt. In sommige gevallen mag je de golfbal opteeen.

In de winterperiodes groeit het gras bijvoorbeeld niet.  Bij een goede golfswing sla je een divot (een plag).  Je raakt de bal en dan het gras.

Voor het behoud van de baan mag je  wintertees gebruiken.  Als je een qualifying kaart loopt mag je geen gebruik maken van wintertees

De standaard golf tee

De standaard golf tee is 5,4 cm hoog / lang.  Vroeger waren ze van hout gemaakt.  Later kwam de  plastic golf tee op de markt. De plastic golf tee wordt niet door iedereen gewaardeerd.

Veelal blijft deze in de grasmachine hangen en beschadigt de balden. Daarnaast vond men dat plastic golf tees slecht voor het milieu waren.

Tegenwoordig zijn er biologisch afbreekbare golf tees.  Dit is handig. Rond en op de afslagplaats zie je vaak stukjes tees liggen die kapot geslagen zijn. De biologisch afbreekbare golf tees zijn daardoor een uitkomst voor het milieu.

De standaard tees worden meestal gebruikt voor de ijzers. De golf Tee hoef je maar een heel klein beetje uit de grond te laten steken. Ongeveer een halve centimeter. Nog geen vingerdikte.

De golf Tee  speciaal voor de driver

Naast de standaard tees wordt de wat langere tees ook gebruikt. De langere golf tees worden gebruikt voor de driver en in mindere mate voor de fairway wood (houten 3).

Zoals je wellicht kunt zien is het clubhoofd van een driver een stuk groter dan het clubhoofd van een ijzer.  Bij het slaan met een driver moet je de bal hoog genoeg opteeen.

Als standaard regel kun je 2 vingerdiktes aanhouden. Let op dit zijn standaarden. De hoogte van de balpositie kan veel invloed hebben op het uiteindelijke resultaat van de balvlucht.
